To go just a touch deeper, maybe liberals actually like wars, but feel that part of the build-up is to agonise about it. Then when the war is on, they immediately start voicing regret, so that our enemies are encouraged to wait us out and it just goes on forever. Win-win. Especially with little wars. Obama turned two smallish wars into smaller wars, then went and found five even smaller ones. It occurs to me that liberals like wars, they just don't like big wars.

Bush 43 had advisors who encouraged him to ignore the Colin Powell Doctrine of "If you break it you own it" and just win wars instead. He chose to ignore them.

The artist is Chris Hallbeck. I've read him off and on for years and actually interviewed him once. I'm almost certain that someone has heavily modified Hallbeck's original comic.

When I was attending the Naval Postgraduate School, one of our professors taught both there and at the Monterey Institution of International Studies. We were, obviously, all military officers and pretty conservative. MIIS was pretty liberal from what I recall. The class he taught was Soviet Political Thought. One day, after reviewing an exam, one of the officers in the class asked the professor if he used the same exams at both schools and what differences did the answers reveal. He replied that he did use the same test questions and then went further. "They think you guys are all warmongering baby killers and you think they are all a bunch of pinko-peaceniks, but when given a policy issue, you guys will dip and dive every way you can to avoid using the military and the military is the first policy answer they reach for." he put it down to we knew whose lives were on the line, and they didn't really care.

Of course liberals like to get us into wars. We have rarely if ever had a war that failed to increase state power even afterward. And in the last few decades, liberals like war even more if it is NOT for a clear national purpose.

dems have an appetite for war,but not the stomach for it if we win a war. If we lose a war, we can turn our backs on those who joined us in the war and not concern ourselves with helping those people regain their lives and history as the Marshall Plan did so much after WWII. dems love the idea of war but then are unconcerned with the costs of war.
