Who Built Their Houses?

I see that a number of Democratic activists here in the Golden State, at least rhetorically are reluctant to support Treasurer Phil Angelides in the Governor's race against Arnold because Angelides used to be a "developer," an epithet that apparently for those people ranks right up there with "child molester," "capitalist," "conservative," and "Republican." Anyway, did those people build their own houses? Or did they buy houses previously built by... developers? Or do they live in caves, and I refer here not to the intellectual kind? Just asking.

Though you're rather unfairly categorizing the charges against Angelides - not that he's a developer but rather that he's a developer who broke environmental regulations for a fast buck - I personally don't find his background any more egregious than any other businessman-cum-politician.

I, for one, don't want to support Phil Angelides because Phil Angelides comes off like a dickhead.

"Movie star," however, is an eco-friendly former occupation for a governor, and California has given its thumbs-up twice now.

(Yes, James, Angelides come off like geek-of-the-century, and it's early yet. Napoleon Dynamite with bigger ears and spectacles. Can't have that in California, we got a rep to maintain.)

"Um... arnie? He's kind of in the same boat there."

The beauty of voting in California is that I don't have to vote for a category I don't want to and all my other votes count. While I don't subscribe to many Democrats' knee-jerk anti-Governator feelings(he hasn't been great, but I can think of worse outcomes), I don't particularly like him all that much, either.
