Guller's Travels

That wacky comedic genius of British television, Ali G (aka Sascha Cohen, a very clever Jewish boy), takes his Kazakh alter ego to a country bar in Tucson and gets the whole crowd into singing 'Throw the Jew Down the Well'.

This is kind of scary, I suppose, but definitely funny as all get-out. Don't miss this video clip.

I'm addicted to Ali G, even though the Mrs. is repulsed by him and he is banned from the living room TV. (I skulk off to the bedroom---I've seen the Jew Down the Well thing mebbe 5 times.)

I do watch the faces in the crowd---some are drunk gals who probably never met a Jew, and they're in party mode.

To Cohen's credit, he shows a few faces that are thinking about what's going on and register an appropriate amount of disgust.

But now that the Catholics have decided that the Jews didn't kill Christ after all, and the evangelicals think you're part of the Final Conflagration, we've got your back, Jay, at least for the time being.

I love the way he sets it up with the transport problem and the clunky lyrics ("Throw Transport down the well"), then suddenly spruces up the writing and the singing and it all becomes too irresistibly catchy.
