Maxwell Smart Is Dead

I just heard that Don Adams (Maxwell Smart of Get Smart) is dead.

All I can think about is my dad imitating one of the scenes from the show:

"Not Craw, CRAW!"

Prior to PC, which really does have its uses, it was considered hilarious to have an Asian villain completely incapable of pronouncing his evil name. And, in fact, it was quite funny.

(He was The Claw, just in case you needed a little help getting up to speed.)

It pains me that in most of the Don Adams obits I've seen so far, CONTROL's organizationsal nemesis is listed as CHAOS. It was not CHAOS, it was KAOS.

I know this because in the sixth grade I was bounced from the Indiana State spelling bee for spelling it that way. I felt pretty darn Maxwell Dumb. See, TV does make you stupid.

All the obits have also mentioned that Don Adams was the voice of Inspector Gadget, when I think he did far finer voice work as Tennessee Tuxedo.

How about the schtick where Barbara Felton (Agent 99) would say something, Max (86) would ignore it, then he would suddenly turn around and say the same idea? She would always shrug good-naturedly but resignedly and say, "Good idea, Max."

I'm not sure if that really happens to women more often than men, but that is a real workplace experience that all of us have had.

T, surprisingly we agree on a movie again. I thought Team America was stupendously over-the-top, but very, very funny. Unfortunately, there is something deeply scatological about my tastes.
