The Gaul Of Some People

The news that Paris Hilton is engaged to Paris Latsis brings a perverse symmetry in that anything Ms. Hilton does can be presumed to be motivated primarily, if not entirely, by self-love.

Not terribly surprising, either, that 'Paris' turns out to be an epicene appellation.

If I write a book about this great romance, a title suggests itself: A Tale Of Two Cities. That is, if I can figure out what the Dickens this girl is doing as an icon in our culture.

Paris is famous for being famous.

She has her own successful TV show that has gone on for multiple seasons. It has no-doubt earned her quite a bit of money. Why do you liberals have such rage and jealously towards the wealthy? Her father worked hard for his money. She has clearly shown the same abilities via her show and her various lines of fashion products.

Maybe you should get a job and stop whining about the wealthy.

I have a job, I'm not a liberal, and I have never been known to whine.

As for her successful TV show, the point of the show is to exploit for laughs how out-of-touch she is with ordinary life. Her talent is being wealthy, see?

Put another way, her twenty talents of gold are her talent.
She is being paid a lot of money because people without money are amused by how clueless her inherited money has left her in their midst.

I was talking to anonymous, not you.

What have you got against wealthy people?

Oh, so, when an avowed liberal does it, you rail against him. When Hominick rather nicely smacks you in your place, you're all apologies?

And I must say, Mr. Hominick, that was very nicely done.
