Howard Dean's latest rhetorical excess is a statement to the effect that the Republicans are a 'White Christian Party'.
This, while his opposite number at the RNC is Jewish and on the same day that a black Christian woman was voted on as a Bush nominee to the Federal Appeals Court.
The Democrats used to claim to be colorblind; now we see that they weren't kidding.
Ahh, another Dean quote taken out of context. In other words, a lie about Howard Dean.
ReplyDeleteWe've got plenty of say in the party (speaking for myself as an evangelical)). We probably have more elective offices held at every level than the any other branch of the party. The President is arguably squarely in our camp.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the racial numbers go, African-Americans have been very resistant, but the GOP did much, much better with Hispanics. Issues like gay marriage will drive more African-Americans to the GOP. If the Dems should lose even 15% of the black vote, they'll be finished.
Surely you mean "non-issues like gay marriage".
ReplyDeleteThe Neo-cons and Paleo-cons are now finding themselves strapped to the theo-con subsection and they don't seem to like it.
ReplyDeleteEver read a neo-con book, like Irving Kristol's? The neo-cons and the theo-cons have a whole hell of a lot in common.
Anonymous: I too will never understand the focus on homosexuals. It makes no sense.
"Issues like gay marriage will drive more African-Americans to the GOP"
ReplyDeleteSure, the GOP welcomes reactionaries of all colors in their big tent
