I had always maintained that my admiration for Charles Krauthammer knew no bounds. Add to that the fact that both his family and mine have the tradition that we are descended from Rashi (1035-1105), author of the greatest comprehensive Biblical and Talmudic commentary in history.
But today I have a bone to pick with him over his endorsement of Sharon's strategy in unilateral ceding of territories prior to negotiations. Hey, maybe I got a little carried away, but the writing is hot, smokin' hot.
Hey Jay,
ReplyDeleteGreat points in your article.
Also, I remember learning a few weeks ago that you had served in the Israeli Army. That's pretty cool, and I have a lot of respect for that. You know, the Israeli Army has quite a long tradition for excellence. =)
Thanks, Greg. I wrote that in a blaze of fire.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, the Israeli Army is pretty cool. I am a total American, of course born in NYC, both parents and my Dad's mom born in NYC. So I trained in a unit of foreign-born soldiers in 1991 about two months before my 33rd birthday. I was with other Americans, Canadians, South Africans, Frenchmen, Russians and a few Ethiopians, not to forget two Argentinians and a Taiwanese. It was an intense two-week training marred by three of the fellows being murdered in a weird terrorist attack.
Oops, sorry, I meant two MONTHS of training.
