Flacking a Flick

Finally I had the opportunity to see The Great Raid, based on Laura Ingraham's recommendation a few months ago.

It is absolutely fabulous. It is done with balance, very honest and very powerful. Besides for being pleasurable and educational, I think that there is a social virtue in giving a few dollars to the producers of this sort of valuable work.

I really want to see that, Jay. I'll pick a good evening and invite some friends.

I was so excited to see a movie based on this true story. It's one of the greatest moments in American military history.

Hunter, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed, nor will your friends.

And James, thank you for that comment. You are absolutely right.

By the way, after Connie Nielsen's Oscar-deserving role in Convicted (USA Today shares my opinion on that), her role in this one was relatively easy. Still, I think that she has the ability to be a really compelling presence on a screen. I hope she continues to get great roles. The recognition is sure to follow at some point.

Been meaning to give mad props to Laura Ingraham, so I hope it's OK to do it here, Jay. Hate to hog the main page.

She comes off OK but admittedly not great when she gets a slot on Talking TV. But even aside from her (so far winning) battle against breast cancer, from which she missed the absolute minimum of work days, she puts up an entirely professional and entertaining show, every bit as sharp as her competitors in the fast-paced morning zoo radio form.

That she has something of value to say is so much the better. She's made support for our troops a centerpiece of her message, and putting her own life where her mouth is, is now broadcasting and blogging from Iraq.

Laura Ingraham. Salut!
